Terms of Service

Welcome to LanternPhish. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Lantern Phish, LLC (“LanternPhish,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account, downloading the app, or using any part of our service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use LanternPhish.
1. Description of Service
LanternPhish is a family-oriented phishing simulation platform. Our app sends safe, simulated phishing emails and SMS messages to people you designate (“targets”) for educational purposes. The goal is to help families recognize and avoid real phishing attacks.
LanternPhish is available as a mobile app for iOS and Android, along with a companion website. Our service is designed to be a learning tool, not a substitute for professional cybersecurity services.
2. Eligibility
To create a LanternPhish account, you must be at least 13 years old. If you are between 13 and 18, you must have a parent or legal guardian’s consent to use the service.
When you add targets to your account, you may include family members of any age, including minors. By adding a target, you represent that you have the authority and permission to include that person in phishing simulations. For targets under 13, you must be their parent or legal guardian.
3. Account Registration and Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information during registration
- Keep your login credentials secure and not share them with others
- Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access to your account
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
4. Subscriptions and Billing
LanternPhish offers the following plans:
- Free Plan: 1 target, email simulations only
- Monthly Plan: $12.99/month
- Annual Plan: $129.99/year
Paid subscriptions are billed through Apple’s App Store or Google Play (collectively, “app stores”). By subscribing, you agree to the following:
- Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your device’s app store settings.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google, not by LanternPhish. Please contact the respective app store for refund requests.
- Prices are subject to change. We will notify you of any price changes before your next renewal.
5. Acceptable Use
LanternPhish is built for families to learn together. You agree to use the service responsibly and in good faith. Specifically, you agree that you will:
- Only add targets you have permission to test. You must have consent or parental authority over every person you add as a target.
- Not use LanternPhish for actual phishing, fraud, or any malicious purpose. Our simulations are educational. Misusing the platform to deceive, harass, or harm others is strictly prohibited.
- Not use the service to violate any applicable law or regulation.
- Not attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the app or service.
- Not interfere with or disrupt the service or the servers and networks connected to it.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, without prior notice.
6. User Content and Data
When you use LanternPhish, you provide us with certain information, including:
- Your name, email address, and phone number
- Target names, email addresses, and phone numbers
- Simulation results and activity data
- Device identifiers and user IDs
You retain ownership of the information you provide. By using the service, you grant us a limited license to use this data solely to operate and improve LanternPhish. We handle your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for ensuring that any information you provide about targets is accurate and that you have the right to share it with us.
7. Intellectual Property
All content, features, designs, code, trademarks, and other intellectual property associated with LanternPhish are owned by Lantern Phish, LLC or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the service without our prior written consent.
Your use of LanternPhish does not grant you any ownership rights in the app, its content, or any related intellectual property.
8. Third-Party Services
LanternPhish relies on third-party services to operate. These include, but are not limited to:
- Supabase for authentication and data storage
- Mailgun for sending simulated phishing emails
- Twilio for sending simulated phishing SMS messages
- Firebase for push notifications and analytics
- RevenueCat for subscription management
These services have their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices or availability of third-party services, though we choose our partners carefully and work to protect your data.
9. Disclaimers
LanternPhish is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that:
- The service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
- The simulations will cover every type of phishing attack
- Using LanternPhish will prevent you or your family from falling victim to real phishing attempts
LanternPhish is an educational tool designed to build awareness. It is not a guarantee of protection against cyber threats, and it does not replace professional cybersecurity advice or services.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lantern Phish, LLC and its owners, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. This includes, but is not limited to, damages for loss of data, loss of profits, or any harm resulting from reliance on the service.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of LanternPhish shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lantern Phish, LLC, its owners, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another person.
12. Account Termination and Deletion
You may delete your account at any time from within the LanternPhish app. When you delete your account:
- Your personal data and target data will be permanently removed from our systems
- Any active subscription will need to be cancelled separately through your app store
- Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if we believe you have violated these Terms, with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Your continued use of LanternPhish after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
We encourage you to review these Terms periodically. The “Effective Date” at the top of this page reflects the date of the most recent update.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts located in Virginia.
